Our Story

Our family recently moved into a new home, and with that came the discussion about how we wanted to furnish our living room. As much as we enjoy watching movies and shows, we did not want a big black box [TV] to be the focus of the room. So we went on a search for a TV/cinema solution that would be discreet, easy to install, viewable both day and night, and suitable for households with small children.

Many of the solutions we discussed were not ideal. A traditional projector set in the back of the living area often results in shadows whenever someone walks in front of the screen. Hanging the projector from the ceiling would prevent that, but would have also required drilling into the ceiling and wiring up electric cables. We also wanted to avoid having to install a drop-down projector screen on the wall, as we wanted to use our wall space to hang art.

Since we couldn't find the perfect solution, we ended up building it ourselves: a custom sideboard designed to discreetly and safely house a short-throw laser projector and electric floor screen. When not in use, it's an elegant piece of furniture that complements any living room setup. When you're ready, it quickly converts into a home cinema, offering an impeccable viewing experience both day and night without the need for curtains or shades.

We felt there might be other people out there with similar aspirations — the desire to have a home cinema without having to spend hours of time-consuming research to source the right combination of electronics and furniture.

And so came the idea for cineboard. The prototype stands in our home today and still puts a smile on our face every day. Now we see it as our mission to pass that same feeling onto you.
